Karen and Dan were married in a pretty little church, and then drove to their wedding reception in a blue VW Beetle called Bo Blue. The bridesmaids were dressed in 50s style flowery Vivien of Holloway and Karen had a lovely vintage style lace dress from Sottero & Midgeley called ‘Geraldine’. I had been looking forward to photographing their wedding for a while!
Wise Weddings in Kent is such a cool venue – set in woodland with treehouses, a permanent, pretty marquee, space for hay bales and bunting and an outdoor fete/festival style wedding. Karen had broken her ankle recently and put the time she was laid up to plan the most amazing amount of details. She handmade little fimo gnomes for everyone, personalised with their hair colour and other details (mine had a little camera!). The table runners were made to look like grass, all the flowers were handpicked from Blooming Green in Kent. There were ribbons on the back of every chair. There was a cake table, a sweet table, a photo booth table. Dan hand made the guest book with inspiration from the wonderful film Up. There was a bouncy castle for extra fun, along with lots of village fete style games made by Karen’s dad – splat the rat, a coconut shy, rubber duck fishing… Their dinner was a BBQ and in the evening they had a hog roast. In the evening a great band called Get Ape played. Everything was incredible.
It also happened to be the hottest day of the year but luckily there was an ice cream van!
